LEMLEM | ETHIOPIA

When Supermodel turned Rolemodel Liya Kebede discovered that traditional weavers in her native country of Ethiopia were losing their jobs due to a decline in local demand for their goods she set out to do something about it.  Today, Lemlem which means flourish or bloom in Amharic is a thriving business that honors the beauty and quality of these ancient designs.  The women are paid a fair wage and their art is preserved.  Winwin.
